About Me

Hi, I’m Elizabeth! 

As an Episcopalian and the eldest daughter of an evangelical pastor, I have been guided by the Christian faith as long as I can remember. Today, you can find me most days perched somewhere in my apartment in Chicago working remotely full-time for the Episcopal Diocese of California, where I channel my passion for sustainability and caring for the earth into meaningful action as the Communications Associate alongside the Canon for Communications.

For the past five years, I’ve found solace and community in the Episcopal Church. I am deeply involved in various ministries at the church I call home, Church of the Ascension. Serving on the vestry and leading committees such as Hospitality, Outreach, and Stewardship allows me to actively contribute to the spiritual and social fabric of the church. I also cherish my roles in the Usher and Flower guilds, where I find joy in creating welcoming spaces and arranging flowers alongside my spouse.

With a career spanning the nonprofit sector, I find immense fulfillment in investing my time and energy into causes that make a tangible difference in people’s lives. As a staunch LGBTQ+ advocate, I’ve played a pivotal role in founding LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups, advocating for inclusivity and equality at my previous employer, 1871. At the Diocese of California (DioCal), I work alongside some amazing people to make sure the voice of the Spanish-speaking members of the church are both welcomed and given full voice, especially at DioCal’s annual convention.

Family holds a special place in my heart—I’m the eldest of eight siblings, three of whom are adopted. While my spouse and I have chosen not to have biological children, we are committed to adoption should we expand our family in the future. I am an advocate for the well-being of families and children, having spent many hours as both a nanny and child-sitter for families that are living under the wage median, I’ve seen the effects of poverty firsthand.

Through faith, advocacy, and service, I strive to live out the values of love, compassion, sustainability, and inclusivity each day, both in my personal and professional endeavors. As such I embrace a vegan lifestyle, alongside my partner, aligning our values with our daily choices, and regularly partner with nonprofits and churches to volunteer caring for our neighbors and our world.
